Who we are

Summit Baptist Church is a family of Christians (see our Statement of Faith to learn more about what we believe). We are passionate about teaching the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, growing in faith and knowledge of the Bible, and serving eachother and our community.
We are located right off of Victory Highway, next to the Western Coventry Fire Station.
We are a part of the American Baptist Church (ABC) denomination, specifically the American Baptist Churches of Rhode Island. The ABC denomination was started by Roger Williams, the founder of the state of Rhode Island. Each ABC church is run independently.
Pastor Tyler

Pastor Tyler Brock first came to Summit in September of 2022. He was affectionately called “the ponytail Pastor,” showing up with long hair and his acoustic guitar. He has a Bachelor’s in Bible and Theology and a Master’s of Divinity from Liberty University. Tyler has been a Christian all his life, but this is his first pastorate role. He is most passionate about understanding and teaching scripture. As a guitarist, he frequently plays music for the congregation.
He lives with his wife, Katlyn, and new baby son, Leighton, who also attend our church.

History

Summit Baptist Church was founded in 1862 in the Western Coventry village of Summit. The year 1862 was a quieter, more community-involved time. Over the years, our members have not forgotten the importance of supporting each other and growing with the faithful in our area and beyond. In 2001, the need for more space inspired us to build a new church on Route 102 – located on a hill overlooking the village.
This is a picture of the old church, located at 12 Old Summit Road in Greene, RI. It was used from 1862 to 2001. It is now a historical site owned by the Coventry Historical Society.
