Statement of Faith

Statement of Faith

On God

We believe and worship the One, True, and living God who was revealed to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

God is a spiritual being and the creator of the universe: space, matter, and time. As well as the creator of the spiritual realms. God is all-powerful, all-knowing, everywhere present, and all-loving. He has existed eternally from the beginning and has never not existed. He is uncaused.

God is One in three persons: the Father, the Son, and The Holy Spirit. These three are One God. They are each equal in substance, having the same nature of the Divine. Each one is all-powerful and eternally existent.

On Scripture

God is revealed through His holy scriptures; new and old testaments. The scripture is God’s word communicated to us through men chosen by God and guided by the Holy Spirit.

These scriptures are the only perfect rule for faith and practice. These scriptures are authoritative and true in all they assert.

On Humanity

Humans are made in the image of God. Each person is precious and unique in the sight of God who loves them as a good Father.

All humans have broken the moral law of God and fallen short of the glory of God. Humans all have, due to Adam and Eve introducing sin into the world, a proclivity for evil. Because of our wrongdoings we are all deserving of punishment and are ostracized from God.

On Christ Jesus

First, Jesus was born a human living in history. He was born of the Virgin Mary and lived in Nazareth. He developed and learned, suffered and fatigued, hunger and thirsted and was tempted just like all humans. His humanity was genuine. Yet, He remained sinless.

Second, Jesus is and was the Messiah, the Christ, foretold in the Jewish scriptures. He fulfilled the Old Testament.

Third, Jesus died on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins. This is the solution to our sin problem. Jesus takes on the penalty owed to us by suffering and dying on the cross. It is by this sacrifice that God’s love and mercy for us is realized and we are no longer ostracized from Him.

Fourth, God rose Jesus from the dead and He was given a Resurrection body. By this Jesus conquered death. The resurrection acts as evidence of Jesus’ claims and as proof that we too will be resurrected in the end times.

Fifth, Jesus Christ is God. Jesus is the Son, one of the Trinity. By this Jesus is fully divine and has all the attributes of God. Jesus temporarily gives up these qualities to become incarnate as a human and die on the cross.

Sixth, Jesus ascended into heaven, but Jesus is coming again. In this second coming He will enact judgment upon the wicked.

On Salvation

People are saved by placing their faith (their belief and trust) in Jesus Christ. By this they choose to become followers of Christ (Christians). Through faith they accept the free gift of God which is Christ’s sacrifice and they enter into fellowship with Him. Salvation is attained by this faith and not by works.

On the Holy Spirit

After the person has placed their faith in Christ, the Holy Spirit enters and transforms the person. Over time this leads to the fruits of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, and self-control).
